The FAI are reported to have cleared a debt to sports retail group Sports Direct with the company's sponsorship of the men's and women's FAI Cups for the next three years as part of the arrangement.
The Irish Independent reports that the FAI owed Sports Direct 6 and a half million euro dating back to when John Delaney was CEO of the Association - which Sports Direct was allowed to demand repayment of as part of the terms of a previous sponsorship deal agreed in 2016.
It's understood the current FAI executive has cleared these liabilities in full with a 3 and a half million euro payment, the sponsorship agreement and a small write down of the sum owed to Sports Direct.
Mason Mount is set to join Manchester United from Chelsea after the England midfielder agreed personal terms with the Red Devils.
Chelsea have also given permission for Manchester City to speak to their midfielder Mateo Kovacic.
