St.Brendan’s have won the opening Garvey’s SuperValu County Senior Football Championship ¼ Final.
They defeated Legion 2-17 to 1-9 in Tralee’s Austin Stack Park.
Brendan's dominated early on and had three points without reply, as well as 2 wides, in the first 4 minutes. They led 0-6 to 0-2 come the water break. A Jack Barry goal then extended that advantage to 7. Less than a minute later Diarmuid O'Connor netted to make it 2-6 to 0-2 after 21 minutes. The half time advantage was 7, at 2-7 to 0-6.
Jamie O'Sullivan goaled for Legion early in the second period brought them to within six; 2-9 to 1-6.
Brendan's extended their lead to 2-12 1-7 before losing Tomas Kearns to a second yellow card. This didn't stop Brendan's from staying on top and they opened up a 2-15 to 1-9 lead. Legion lost Rob Leen to a red card late on.
