Firies 2-15 Ballyduff 2-4
A comfortable win in the end by Firies which came off the back of a superb second half performance. The first half was a very tight affair. Firies were playing with a very strong wind and Ballyduff defended deeply to try and stay in the game and avail of the wind in the second half. Firies took a 0-06 to 0-02 lead into the dressing rooms at half time with the main highlights of the first half coming from the only two points from play from Jake Flynn and Mike Daly as well as a brilliant point blank save from the Firies Keeper Brian McCarthy.
Firies started the second half with a much more determined look about them and reeled off 4 unanswered points before Ballyduff scored a goal against the run of play. But Firies to their credit replied with a superb goal of their own from Jake Flynn. Firies were in control from here on in and James Horgan added a second goal late on to leave Firies ahead by 2-14 to 1-04 ahead entering injury time. Kevin Goulding responded with a consolation goal in injury time to take his tally for the day to 1-3. But it was Firies who completed the scoring, James Horgan kicking his final free of the night to see Firies run out convincing winners.

St Patrick's Blennerville 3-15 Castlegregory GAA Club 2-17
Currow 2-15 Waterville Frank Caseys 2-7
Currow made the long trip south to Waterville knowing a win was absolutely imperative in this hotly contested Group 04 of the Junior Premier Championship.
Without last week’s hat trick hero John McMahon (injured), the visitors started brightly against the breeze. Currow’s relentless pressing was paying dividends and they had hit five unanswered points (Connie O’Connor, Sean Brosnan, John Buckley (f), Cathal Brosnan & John Curtin) before a surging run from Waterville centre back Oran Clifford ended with the ball at the back of the Currow net.
10 mins: 1-00 to 0-05
Cathal Brosnan responded with a well worked point before Dylan Huggard retaliated in kind for the home side to leave the lead at 3 points. Cathal Brosnan was again tormenting the southerners 2 minutes later when he made one of his trademark penetrating moves through the defence and teed up Currow wing forward Kevin Fitzgerald to palm beyond the stranded Jack O’Shea.
23 mins: 1-01 to 1-06
The hosts hit back with a quick fire double before John Buckley brought the first half to a close with an expertly dispatched free.
HT Waterville 1-04 Currow 1-08
The evergreen Buckley’s attacking prowess was again on show at the beginning of the second period with another well taken free and he came agonising close to adding another Currow goal after slipping a ball past the Waterville stopper. The ball unfortunately also slipped past the wrong side of the post!
Another exchange of points occurred between the sides but the black and amber were killing a lot of Waterville attacks at their genesis, with wing back Conor Sheahan particularly effective.
Minutes later Kevin Fitzgerald added his second goal of the evening after he reacted quickest to a loose ball around the home side’s goal and stabbed a left footed shot into the corner of his opponents net.
41 mins: 1-04 to 2-10
The southern side to their credit did not abandon their task and the equally evergreen Barry O’Dwyer was causing problems. They were rewarded when Dylan Huggard popped up again and smashed a shot to the roof of Shane O’Leary’s net. Currow also stuck to the assignment and pressed their advantage further as the game wore on. The pick of their scores in this period came from the exotic location of the left boot of Luke Fitzgerald.
As the game drew to a close the visitors were able to introduce a number of effective substitutions which contributed greatly in solidifying their side’s position.
