Jack Kennelly opened the scoring for the home side with a free before Emmett O’Shea equalised for Fossa after just a minute of play. In the 8th minute, Brian O’Seanachain powered through the Fossa rearguard to crack home a goal which was quickly followed by a Jack Kenelly point to put them four points ahead. Fossa didn’t panic and a magnificent 45 from Paudie Clifford was followed by long range points from Emmett O’Shea and David Clifford to get them back into the game, the teams were level by the 20th minute after further scores from Cian and Emmett O’Shea. Then Mikey Nolan cracked home a second goal for Ballydonoghue to put them three up again, a turnover by Darren Ryan, who had an outstanding game all through, set David Clifford up for a point which was followed by scores from Paudie Clifford and Emmett O’Shea to leave the sides all square at the break, 2-04 to 0-10.

Both sets of defences were working overtime as each side attacked at every opportunity at the start of the second half but it was Fossa who made the brighter start. Scores from David Clifford, Kieran O’Sullivan and Emmett O’Shea had them four ahead before Jack Kennelly got the first score for the home side after fifteen minutes of play. Further points from Paul and Jack Kennelly got Ballydonoghue back in the game, Matt Rennie landed a left footed point for Fossa and in the 24th minute, Kieran O’Sullivan intercepted a kickout and he slipped the ball across the square to David Clifford who finished to the net. Ballydonoghue didn’t give up and in the 27th minute, Jack Kennelly caught the Fossa defence napping when he cracked home a free to the net. They pushed hard for another goal and they nearly got one only for a brilliant reflex save by Shane O’Sullivan and some great defending by the outstanding Cian McCarthy at full back. Paudie Clifford then sealed victory for Fossa with two sublime individual efforts to leave the final score, Fossa 1-18, Ballydonoghue 3-07.
