Paddy Power has come to the rescue of a North Kerry soccer club after they shared snaps of dressing rooms that looked as if they had come straight from the set of a horror movie.
Ferry Rangers, in Tarbert, got in touch with the well-known Irish betting firm after the company pledged to donate €10,000 to Irish football for every goal England scored throughout Euro 2020.

With €80,000 banked, thanks to eight goals scored so far (Raheem Sterling x 3, Harry Kane x 3, Harry Maguire x 1 and Jordan Henderson x 1), Ferry Rangers are the latest club to benefit from the boot of English players, thanks to the #saveourgame campaign.

The club, which is part of the Kerry District League, have been using rotten containers since the late ‘90s as their changing rooms and had to bring their ‘facilities’ with them 10 years ago when they relocated to Ferry Park.

“One is an old shipping container and the other is a cabin which a local company donated to us when they finished up on a site,” senior team manager Evan Allen explains.

A spokesperson for Paddy Power said: “We have seen some frightening things in our inbox since asking clubs to get in touch with us for donations. But Evan described it best in his application when confirming that the images were not taken from the set of the latest instalment of the ‘Saw’ movie franchise, but were in fact, the changing rooms that both they and their opposition tog out in before matches.”

“We thought it was a tactical ploy to scare the living daylights out of their opposition, but it turns out the away team get the ‘nicer’ of the two cabins.”

To date, and with the inclusion of this latest contribution to Ferry Rangers, Paddy Power have given €50,000 of their cash to football clubs the length and breadth of the country, with further announcements to come later this week.
“We’ve guaranteed €100k regardless of the number of goals scored, but with the possibility of two more games ahead of us, and England finally finding form, our financial department are really starting to sweat that the 10 goal barrier will be broken,” a spokesperson for Paddy Power said.
