Kerry have won against Meath in the Allianz Hurling League.
The Kingdom made it two wins out of three with a 1-24 to 0-24 victory.
The game was barely a minute old when Shane Nolan goaled for the Kingdom. Brendan O'Leary then pointed for the Kingdom. Shane Conway was next on the scoresheet to make it 1-2 to no score before Meath grabbed their first point of the day. It was 1-4 to 0-2 after 8 minutes. Kerry, who increased their advantage to 1-7 to 2 points, lost Fionan Mackessy to injury after quarter of an hour. When Shane Conway put over his 5th point of the day the Kingdom were ahead by 1-10 to 0-2. Meath had the next 7 points to eat into the Kerry lead; 1-10 to 0-9 after 34 minutes. Maurice O'Connor steadied the ship with a Kerry point. At half-time it was Kerry 1-11 Meath 0-11.
Meath had the first point of the second half to narrow the gap to two, then made it a one point game. Kerry responded by hitting 6 points in a row; Conway and O’Leary with 2 each while Nolan and O’Connor were also on target. The Kingdom had stretched their lead to 1-17 to 0-13. The gap was 4 at the water break; Kerry 1-18 Meath 0-17. The gap increased to 7 by the 59th minute at 1-22 to 0-18. Again Kerry couldn’t shake Meath and the gap was cut once more; 4 points with 7 minutes to go. A Shane Conway point in the final minute of regulation time put Kerry 5 clear at 1-24 to 0-22 and they won in the end by three.
