Kenmare Shamrocks have booked their place in the ¼ finals of the Garvey’s Supervalu County Senior Football Championship.
It's after beating Mid Kerry 2-9 to 1-11.
Mid Kerry had the first two points of the encounter. A Sean O'Shea free kick halved that deficit in the 11th minute. Back to back Mid Kerry points meant they were ahead by 4 points to 1 after 13 minutes. 2 Sean O'Shea points reduced the gap to the minimum by the 21 minute mark. Mid Kerry goaled 1 minute later through Ciaran Kennedy. 2 successive Kenmare points brought them to within 2 at 1-4 to 0-5. Mid Kerry were in front by 1-6 to 0-5 at the break.
A Mike Breen point put Mid Kerry 5 clear. Back to back Kenmare points brought them within 3 in the 41st minute. They were level 2 minutes later courtesy of a Paul O'Connor penalty. That made it 1-7 apiece. Mid Kerry pulled 3 clear but surrendered that lead after 52 minutes. A high ball in from Kenmare saw Sean O'Shea get his hand to it-setting up Dara O'Shea for their second goal of the game. Kevin O'Sullivan pointed Kenmare in front at 2-8 to 1-10 with 7 minutes to go. 2 minutes later Jack O'Sullivan doubled that advantage. Mid Kerry then had shouts for a penalty but nothing was given. Mid Kerry pointed with the last kick of the game but lost by 1.
