Hannah Tyrrell says the postponement of the Women's Rugby World Cup was a factor in the timing of her retirement from international rugby.
The 30-year-old has starred for Dublin's ladies footballers this season after calling time on her rugby career.
The World Cup has been pushed back to October of next year due to the pandemic and Tyrrell says she stepped away to give coach Adam Griggs time to find a new out-half ahead of the tournament.
