On Travels through a Kingdom, Kaya went out to Lixnaw to visit Pat Joe (Pats) Dennehy.
Kaya met Pat Joe at the Lixnaw Comhaltas branch, a building with a story, where she was treated by two big smiles from Pat Joe and Babe (Mary) and plenty of biscuits to go with the tea!
Pat Joe tells Kaya about the 130 year old building and the history behind it. Years ago only principals were to live in the building and when they passed on, the next principal would occupy the building. After a few years, the building went derelict. They speak of how the community got together to renovate the building, after it was idle for 30 years.
Pat Joe also speaks about events the hold in the Lixnaw Comhaltas and how they have thought people all around the county and beyond to play music and dance.
He also voices the importance of our own Irish language and how he relearned it by hisself!
He tells Kaya the wisdom about Irish Seanfhocals and some funny Irish words we use daily!
You can listen back to the full show, which aired on Sunday February 13th, here.
