Linda Lyne is a Zoologist and Kaya on Travels Through a Kingdom.
Recently, Kaya discovered a lizard at her home in Mid-Kerry and took to Twitter.
Surprised to see such a creature, she got in touch with Linda Lyne to hear how common they are in Ireland.
The Irish name for the common lizard is ‘Laghairt choiteann’.
They are also sometimes referred to as ‘Earc luachra’, meaning ‘lizard of the rushes’.
Linda says if you keep even one quarter of your garden wild, you have a good chance of seeing numerous species around.
Search the #IveraghLizards on Twitter to see where they are!
