It was a bitter sweet weekend for the green and gold of Kerry. Our senior footballers were back on form with a dominating victory over Dublin in Austin Stacks on Saturday night. Unfortunately our club hurlers and footballers couldn’t get over the line in Croke Park. To analyse the Kerry football game Donal speaks to former Kerry Captain Liam Brosnan along with journalist Conor McKenna.
Kerry’s recently appointed Senior Hurling Manager Stephen Molumphy was chatting with Donal about his new role and the already great potential he is seeing at club and county level within in the Kingdom.
The Corn Uí Mhuirí is one of the most coveted school cups in the county. It is an all Kerry final this year seeing old rivals St Brendan’s College Killarney take on CBS The Green Tralee. It is guaranteed to be a mighty final where both teams will be putting up a serious fight for the title. Munster GAA Post Primary Schools Coordinator Eoin Ryan spoke to Donal about the upcoming final and the great support the previous Corn Uí Mhuirí games have received.
It was heartbreak for Kilmoyley on Saturday with the North-Kerrymen just falling short at the finishing line after a superb comeback against Naas of Kildare. Former Kilmoyley and Kerry hurler James McCarthy was speaking to Donal about the weekend and the immense pride that the team has brought to the area.
Gneeveguilla were also unable to clench victory from the jaws of defeat after battling back against Kilmeena of Mayo to bring the game into extra time. PRO for the club Mike O’Keeffe spoke with Donal about the game and the support they have received from all the communities in their area.
All-Ireland Masters Indoor National Road Walking Champion Pat Murphy is now entering his 45th season of race walking. He was speaking with Donal about his career and how he is not planning on slowing down anytime soon!
This year marks the 40th anniversary of the first Ring of Kerry cycle and it is set to be the biggest event yet! One of the event organisers Cathal Walshe was on with Donal putting out an appeal to all the GAA clubs across the county to put forth volunteers for the event.
