It was a great weekend for Kerry Sport across all codes. St Brendan’s Killarney were crowned Corn Uí Mhuirí Champions for the 23rd time after a victory over CBS Tralee. Kevin Cronin who is a part of the management team for St Brendan’s spoke to Donal about the victory and how his players are balancing school and sport. The Kerry Hurlers and Camogie players also had great wins over the weekend.

Changes are being made to the Garvey’s Supervalu Championship but what effect will this have on the participating teams and players? Terrance Houlihan Kerry GAA Development officer speaks to Donal about these upcoming changes.

Lotto funding is bringing in great development of facilities in clubs all across the country. It was recently announced that Kerry would be receiving €5.5 million to be spread out across various clubs. Ballymacelligott is one club that will be receiving funding and secretary of the club Fionnan Fitzgerald spoke to Donal not only about what this funding means to his club but what it means for the development of sport and facilities in the county.

Heading across the pond London GAA are in top form at the moment with a perfect start to the League with 2 wins from 2. London GAA Manager Michael Maher was on the line with Donal speaking about this recent success and how they persevered through the setbacks that COVID brought on. Donal also speaks to Jim Landy Kerry Gaels Chairperson along with Cathal O’Luing.

Moving away from the GAA, Saturday saw the Killarney Cougars take home their first win as a National Basketball Team with a victory over the Portlaoise Panthers. Chairperson of the Cougars Dave Ahern spoke to Donal about this momentous victory.

Rathmore may not be the first pace that comes to mind when you think of basketball but that is quickly changing with 3 teams from Scoil Phobail Sliabh Luachra competing in 3 National A Finals. Jim Hughes speaks with Donal about the busy times ahead with these teams.
