This week's guest on Stand Out with Ian O’Connell is a man from the hurling stronghold of Artfert in county Kerry, that is Micheál Costello. Micheál was diagnosed with atypical anorexia on October 15, 2020. Micheál is very close to his mother Mary and she has played a big part in his life and his story. Eating disorders are the highest mortality rate of any mental illness. Micheál recently set out to compete in an Iron man which saw him set out to complete a 3.8km swim, a 180km cycle, and 42.2km run. Prior to doing the Ironman he didn’t know how to curtail my exercise and I was warned by my doctor that he would get adrenal failure.
