Saturday Supplement - June 19th, 2021

Participants of the NEWKD employment project ‘Moving On’ have spent a week on Zoom with Radio Kerry, learning the skills and decision making involved in working as a journalist/presenter and helping produce content for a special Saturday Supplement programme. Moving On is an exciting, employment programme for women in Kerry, supported by NEWKD. The programme offers women free training, support & links with employers. The students also got to meet with Radio Kerry Presenters and during the week the participants learned the process of researching, producing and presenting a radio show – The Saturday Supplement with Joe McGill. With guidance from Connie Broderick and Joe McGill, the participants have determined the content of the programme. The aim of the project is twofold in terms of giving groups the skills, understanding and confidence they may need to deal with the media, but also by providing them with a platform to tell their own stories and messages in their own words through this radio programme.
