When she was 18 months old, Miriam Moriarty Owens was sent to Tralee’s Pembroke Alms Industrial School, later known as Nazareth House, in 1959. Miriam believes a memorial should be erected underneath the tree to commemorate survivors and to mark the 25th anniversary next May of then Taoiseach Bertie Ahern's historic apology to victims of industrial schools.
