Yesterday, President Michael D. Higgins officially pardoned two Kerry men wrongfully hanged for murder in 1883. 38-year-old Sylvester Poff and 24-year-old James Barrett were convicted of murdering Thomas Browne in Dromulton, near Currow on 3rd October, 1882. Jerry spoke to Tomo Burke from Castleisland who is a great grandson of Sylvester Poff. Tomo's grandmother died when he was 16 and he remembers people talking to her about the executions. Jerry also spoke to Louise Browne, who lives in London. James Barrett was her great grand uncle. Both attended yesterday’s ceremony in Áras an Uachtaráin.
