This gave Elaine and other Irish emigrants the legal pathways to build new lives in the US. Ballyheigue’s Don O’Neill, world renowned for his fashion designs, told Jerry today how getting a visa transformed his life. Former senator and county councillor Dan Kiely developed a connection with the late US Congressman Brian Donnelly – who was behind the Donnelly Visa programme – and helped Irish people live legally in the US.
