For this month’s edition of The EU and Me - This is Ireland, the focus is on the impact EU membership has had on people with disabilities and those with minority groups in the 50 years since Ireland voted to join the bloc. The show also examines EU measures to regulate social media in order to combat hate speech and fake news. The programme also looks at the European Year of Youth. The guests speaking to Treasa Murphy are:
Brigid Quilligan, project manager Kerry Travellers Health and Community Development.
Joan Carthy, Irish Wheelchair Association's advocacy expert.
Barry Scannell, solicitor at William Fry LLP, and consultant with William Fry's Technology Group, and a member of the Law Society's Technology and Intellectual Property Committee.
Carmel Walsh, senior youth officer for Léargas.
Tom Matthew, board member at the European Youth Forum.
We are running an ongoing survey asking people's views on EU membership: https://www.radiokerry.ie/euandme
