How, 5,000 years ago did people living in the Bonane area of South Kerry design a stone circle which to this day, marks major lunar standstills, which occur every 18.6 years.
Such an event is taking place this evening, June 21st.
From 8.30 this evening, people will gather at the Bonane Stone Circle to witness the moon rise over the ‘Altar of the Moon’ as the Bronze Age landmark is known, and a feast will be cooked in the nearby fulacht fiadh, an ancient cooking pit.
