Councillors have approved a 7.5% increase in the base rate of Local Property Tax for next year. At a special meeting of Kerry County Council, a vote to retain this year's rate of a 7.5% increase passed by the bare minimum (17-16). As a result, the 2022 rate will remain the same as this year. Independent Cllr Donal Grady, Labour Cllr Terry O’Brien, Sinn Féin Cllr Deirdre Ferris, Independent Cllr Johnny Healy Rae, Fianna Fáil Cllr Michael O’Shea and Fine Gael Cllr Mike Kennelly all spoke to Treasa Murphy to outline their views in the 2022 rate:
