A young Killarney girl has helped launch an initiative for the Children’s Health Foundation.
Hotels for Little Heroes asks hotels to donate the cost of a night’s stay to raise funds for sick children in Children’s Health Ireland at Crumlin, Temple Street, Tallaght, and Connolly.
Killarney native and patient at Temple Street, Alexis O’Mahony, teamed up with Children’s Health Foundation Ambassador, John Burke to launch the campaign.
Her father, Steve, says Alexis first visited Temple Street three days after she was born, and this has continued over the past seven years.
Alexis has a PDH deficiency, a rare metabolic condition which causes brain abnormalities, as well as having cerebral palsy, quadriplegia, and a high risk of aspiration, which makes her completely dependent.
