A young boy is safe and well, after a Valentia Coast Guard-managed operation off the West Kerry coast.
The alarm was raised at 2:40 this afternoon, after the boy was swept out to sea on an inflatable dinghy near Smerwick Harbour.
The Shannon-based 115 helicopter, the Dingle Coast Guard unit, the Fenit all-weather and in-shore units and local boats took part in the search.
The young boy was found shortly after by a local vessel.
Valentia Coast Guard, which had also made a broadcast to local vessels, said the boy was uninjured.
