Works are underway to repair a burst water main in Farranfore.
The incident has led to flooding and major traffic delays.
This afternoon the watermain serving Farranfore and the surrounding areas burst.
Along with impacting the water supply to homes and businesses in the region, the main Tralee to Killarney road near the railway crossing in the village was heavily flooded.
Major traffic delays are being reported and motorists are asked to avoid Farranfore, if possible.
Irish Water and Kerry County Council crews are working to repair the burst as quickly and safely as possible and restore the water supply.
Irish Water says it could take up to three hours for the water supply to return after the break is fixed.
Irish Water says it understands the inconvenience caused and is thanking customers for their patience.
