Works on replacing sections of problematic water pipes in Listowel will begin next month.
Irish Water recently agreed to fund the works on the mains on Bridge Road and Church Street, which have broken up to six times in the past 18 months.
Irish Water previously said neither Bridge Road nor Church Street watermains were on its priority list, despite the majority of Listowel being left without water when the Church Street section breaks.
The works will now be carried out next month by Kerry County Council following Irish Water's approval to fund the replacement of the watermains.
Following these works, there are plans in place to resurface the two sections of the N69 from Main Street to Kerry Foods, and at Upper Church Street.
Meanwhile site clearance works on the N69 Listowel Bypass will be finished by the end of this month.
Kerry County Council says consultation on land acquisition and accommodation works are continuing between the council, landowners, and land agents.
It's expected construction of the bypass could start next spring.
