A new campaign by South Kerry for Palestine will start tomorrow.
Walk the Petition will start in Caherciveen and participants will walk the Occupied Territories Bill petition around the country to Leinster House. The event is expected to continue until they reach their destination at 4.30pm on the 24th of September. There will be vigils taking place at the end stage of every walk.
The aim of the walk is to encourage the Irish government to enact the Occupied Territories Bill which would cease trade between Ireland and Israel. The International Court of Justices made a historic ruling on the 19th of July, which deemed Israel's occupation of Palestinian Territories to be illegal and called on all states to end this illegal occupation.
Maria McCarthy and Michelle Foudy are involved with the Kerry branch of the Ireland Palestine Solidarity campaign.
Many local communities in Kerry, and around the country have come together in support of the campaign. This includes Kerry friends of Palestine and vigil groups in Listowel, Kenmare, Tralee and Killarney. There is also a QR code which allows those interested to sign the petition.
