International trade and direct foreign investment has contributed to the strong US-Irish relations that exist today.
That’s the view of the US Ambassador to Ireland Claire Cronin who says the US-Irish relationship is based on strong ancestral ties.
She says it’s fascinating that Ireland, a nation of 5 million people, is the ninth largest investor in the United States.
Ambassador Cronin says the Valentia Transatlantic Cable is an example of the long history shared by the United States and Ireland.
She says both countries provide crucial investment to one another:
Ambassador Clare Cronin will be speaking at the sixth Valentia Lecture on globalisation today at 2pm.
