There’s an added resonance to today’s citizenship ceremonies which are taking place in Killarney.
That’s according to Minister for Justice, Helen McEntee, who’s been speaking at the Gleneagle INEC arena.
She says Ireland’s acceptance of Ukrainian refugees has given an extra dimension to the ceremonies.
Some 1,300 applicants are being conferred with Irish citizenship – the first in-person ceremonies since the outbreak of COVID-19 over 2 years ago.
Minister McEntee says today’s gatherings are taking place against the backdrop of the Ukrainian crisis.
Congratulations to our new Irish Citizens who attend this morning's Ceremony in #Killarney!
