UHK says any vacant consultant positions will be filled through the National Recruitment Service (NRS).
It was responding to a query on the number of full-time radiologists in the hospital.
In June, Kerry Sinn Féin TD Pa Daly claimed that two radiologists departed University Hospital Kerry, leaving only one staff radiologist in the Tralee hospital.
Deputy Pa Daly said he received reports two radiologists had left the hospital, meaning only one staff radiologist now remains.
He also claimed that the provision of nightshift radiologists has been outsourced to an agency or private company.
Radio Kerry has sought information from UHK - through communications company Heneghan PR - on the number of full-time radiologists in the hospital and the name of the company, if any, that's providing nightshift radiologists.
In response, UHK says it has five consultant radiologist positions and, when vacancies arise, posts are temporarily filled on a locum basis to ensure continuity of care.
It adds vacancies are also filled through the HSE National Recruitment Service (NRS).
Despite not being asked for staff contract details, UHK says it will not comment on the contract arrangement of any member of staff.
UHK also hasn't named the company that is providing nightshift radiology services.
