UHK says it expects to advertise four permanent consultant radiologist posts.
There are five consultant radiologist positions in the Tralee hospital, with the majority being filled by temporary staff.
In June, Kerry Sinn Féin TD Pa Daly claimed that two radiologists departed University Hospital Kerry, leaving only one staff radiologist in the Tralee hospital.
Responding last month, UHK says it has five consultant radiologist posts: all five posts are currently filled with one permanent candidate, three long-term locums and one recently appointed locum.
The hospital expected all four permanent positions to be advertised last month, with interviews and appointments following shortly thereafter.
However, there are currently no permanent posts advertised for UHK on the HSE's National Recruitment Service.
The hospital adds that, due primarily to COVID-19, it has recently outsourced some radiology work both to the Bon Secours Hospital Tralee and to Global Diagnostics to ensure that scans are read within the appropriate timeline.
MRI services at UHK are also outsourced on a long-term basis to Alliance Medical.
