University Hospital Kerry made over €1 million in car parking charges over the past two years.
This is according to information released to both the Irish Times and Newstalk, both of which separately received information about income from hospital car parking charges.
According to the Irish Times, state-run hospitals took in more than €12 million in car park charges during 2019, with €7 million of that through arrangements with private companies.
Income from car park charges in UHK that year was over €715,000.
Through a Freedom of Information Act request, Newstalk received information about the amount of money HSE-owned hospitals made from car parking charges in 2020.
Nationally, HSE hospitals made over €5.2 million last year from car parking charges, with nearly €250,000 being collected in UHK.
