The planned twinning of Killarney National Park with Glacier National Park in the US state of Montana has been delayed.
The agreement which will make the two sites "sister parks" is now expected to be signed into agreement when President-elect Joe Biden takes office over the coming weeks.
The twinning will facilitate collaboration between the parks on shared challenges such as high visitor numbers, controlling invasive species and ecological monitoring.
Cathaoirleach of the Seanad, Kerry Senator Mark Daly is working with the US Department of the Interior on the project.
