A Kerry man who was a member of the Athletics Association Hall of Fame has died.
Eddie Mulcahy, who was born in Waterford but living in Sneem, was a giant in weight events since the early sixties.
The 88 year-old was also a founder of the Hibernian Weight Throwers Club which promotes field events in Britain and Ireland.
In 2004, he was elected to the AAI’s Hall of Fame for his outstanding contribution to the sport.
A private cremation will take place at the Island Crematorium tomorrow.
A spokesperson for Tralee Harriers AC commented on his death, saying he was a legend in track and field and influenced many young sports people in the county.
