A Tralee woman is accused of entering a Ukrainian’s family home and stealing money in the middle of the night.
49-year-old Louise O’Brien of Fountain Court, Tralee, has appeared in Tralee District Court on two charges.
At a previous court sitting, Judge David Waters refused jurisdiction in the case, meaning it will move to a higher court.
In Tralee District Court, Judge David Waters asked to hear the full facts of the allegations against Ms O’Brien so he could decide jurisdiction.
Sergeant Chris Manton said it’s alleged that on 5th August at around 01:20 in the morning, Ms O’Brien used a bathroom window to gain entry to a house in Tralee.
Sergeant Chris Manton said €100 was taken, and a Ukrainian family is residing there.
Separately, Ms O’Brien is accused of the theft of a black handbag and items to the value of €106 in Turner’s Bar on Castle Street, also on 5th August.
Judge David Waters said he is refusing jurisdiction in the case, as entering a stranger’s home at night is a serious matter.
This means that Ms O'Brien's case will eventually be heard in a higher court.
It also means the state now must serve the book of evidence on Ms O'Brien for the case to be sent forward.
Sergeant Chris Manton said he's hopeful the state will have the book of evidence on 2nd October, and Ms O'Brien was remanded in custody to that date.
