An initiative by Tralee Gardaí has won a national age friendly award.
Garda Patricia Fitzpatrick of the Community Policing Unit was nominated for the prestigious award in the safety and security category.
Her Halloween Safety Door Hanger project allowed householders make their position on trick or treating clear by a traffic-light system.
The two sided waterproof design of the hanger gave people the option of answering the door - with one side "Red" for stop (No Trick or Treaters) and the other "Green" for go (Welcome Trick or Treaters).
The door hanger, which was available in English and Irish, featured Halloween characters.
Garda Fitzpatrick was presented with the award at a ceremony in the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Santry, Dublin.
