IT Tralee disease expert says no evidence that new COVID-19 variant will change efficacy of vaccines

There’s no evidence so far that the new variant of COVID-19 will change the efficacy of the vaccines.

That’s according to Dr Peter Stuart, of IT Tralee’s Biological and Pharmaceutical Sciences faculty.

Dr Stuart added that the potential impact of the new variant will have on the vaccine will be tested and looked into.

He says that there’s also no evidence that the new variant changes the biology of the virus.
