A re-evaluation of where the Rose of Tralee Festival goes from here will need to be held after this year’s events.
That’s according to Labour councillor for Tralee Terry O’Brien, who was speaking after the Rose of Tralee confirmed it will no longer organise street events for the festival.
Cllr O’Brien says Kerry County Council will step in and run the festival events for the town centre this year, after a meeting was held yesterday between council management and Tralee Municipal District councillors.
The council has now advertised for events management companies to tender for the street festivities for the period of August 18th to 23rd.
Cllr O’Brien says it was a positive meeting and the council will deliver, but a re-think is needed after this year’s festival.
Fine Gael councillor Jim Finucane says this is an opportunity for the festival to reach a new audience by getting the next generation of young people involved.
