A tendering process is to begin shortly for a contract to upgrade parking metres in Tralee to allow for both cash and cashless payments.
Two such metres are already in use in the town on a pilot basis; the metres have been installed in some car parks in Killarney for some time.
Kerry County Councillor Mikey Sheehy says this is the next logical step for parking in Tralee and it will benefit retailers and consumers alike by being more accessible.
The Fianna Fáil councillor is hopeful that all the metres can be upgraded to coincide with the completion of ongoing pavement works in Tralee:
