The deadline to submit tenders for the €69 million Listowel Bypass has been extended.
Councillors in the Listowel Municipal District were given an update on the major project, which is expected to begin later this year.
Councillors were told the tender process for the project is ongoing; however, a request to extend the tendering period by three weeks was accepted. The submission deadline is now August 13th.
Kerry County Council says this extension will lead to greater cost certainty.
The council says land acquisition, which is ongoing and progressing well, won't impact on the project as a compulsory purchase order was already confirmed. All works in advance of the main project have been completed and, currently, it's hoped a main contractor will be in a position to begin by the year end.
The total cost of the Listowel Bypass will be €69 million, which includes planning, land, advance works, main construction and archaeology costs.
