A TD has placed facts related to the Kerry Babies case on the Dáil record.
Sinn Féin TD Pa Daly was speaking on the appointment of new commissioners to the Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission, when he spoke about the Kerry Babies tribunal.
Last month, Joanne Hayes and her family received a new state apology; Ms Hayes was wrongly accused of murdering an infant over 35 years ago.
As part of the High Court settlement, the family also secured declarations that all findings or wrongdoing made against them by the tribunal into the case were unfounded and incorrect.
This week in the Dáil, Sinn Féin TD Pa Daly said Ms Hayes and her representatives have long maintained that the case should have been known as the Kerry Gardaí case, as the scandal was a matter of abuse of power on the part of some gardaí.
He says the tribunal set up to investigate the case never explained what it was supposed to get to the bottom of, namely, how different family members in different rooms of Tralee Garda station came up with the same statement.
Deputy Daly says, along with the court judgement appended to the tribunal report in the Oireachtas library, this means the Dáil record reflects accurately what occurred.
