The Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment Leo Varadkar has described the news that BorgWarner is to close with the loss of 210 jobs as a devastating blow to the employees and to Tralee.
The Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Leo Varadkar, made contact with BorgWarner last night.
This followed the news yesterday that 210 jobs will be lost in the Tralee manufacturing plant when it closes in March of next year.
Borg Warner has been in Tralee for 30 years.
Kerry Fine Gael TD Brendan Griffin says he contacted the Tánaiste yesterday when the job losses were announced and Minister Varadkar was due to engage with the company last night.
He has said that the Government was not aware that the announcement was to be made, and will now make all necessary state assistance available to the workers.
