A strategic plan is being developed for Kerry’s largest residential centre for people with additional needs.
Minister of State Anne Rabbitte and Education Minister Norma Foley visited St Mary of the Angels in Beaufort yesterday.
For several years, the families of service users have been concerned for the facility’s future.
Ministers Anne Rabbitte and Norma Foley announced a fully funded strategic plan is being developed for St Mary of the Angels.
Minister for Education and Kerry Fianna Fáil TD Norma Foley says this is a very positive step forward to secure the future viability of the entire campus.
The process will see a design team appointed and there’ll also be public consultation involving all stakeholders, including current and potential residents as well as their families, according to Minister Foley.
The Kerry TD says this is a significant and positive endorsement of the importance and future potential of St Mary of the Angels.
She says it’s a tribute to the excellent work of the staff, families and supporters of the centre and she outlines the future and important potential of the campus for generations to come.
