The median age of a solo home buyer in Kenmare's local electoral area was 54 in 2019; this was the highest in the country.
That’s according to figures from the Central Statistics Office which has compiled the prices, ages and incomes of property purchasers in each local electoral area in 2019.
New figures also revealed that the median salary of a homebuyer in Kerry was €56,500.
While CSO figures show that Kenmare had the highest median age in the country for people who were buying a property on their own; the lowest in Kerry was Castleisland at 38.
Meanwhile, overall in Kerry the median age to purchase a property was 42.
The cheapest place to purchase a home in Kerry was in Tralee with the average property price coming in at €145,000 while the highest was in Killarney at €250,000.
To buy a home on a solo salary, potential buyers required a salary of €29,600 in Listowel and Castleisland while in Killarney, the median salary for a solo buyer was €50,800.
1,200 properties were sold throughout the county in 2019.
