The Skellig Star Direct Provision Centre in Caherciveen will be closed in the coming months.
Education Minister and Kerry Fianna Fáil TD Norma Foley and Kerry Fine Gael TD Brendan Griffin have been told by Justice and Equality Minister Helen McEntee that the first families will begin to be moved to other accommodation next week.
Efforts are also underway to move the remaining residents to other locations with a view to closing the centre in the coming months.

Meanwhile, the issue of asylum seeker conditions and the hunger strike by residents of the Skellig Star Direct Provision Centre in Caherciveen is to be raised in the Dáil.
Questions will be posed by Deputies Paul Murphy, Mick Barry, Thomas Pringle and Bríd Smith to the Justice Minister under Topical Issues scheduled for around 11pm.
