The sight of thousands of dead spider crabs along Kilcummin Strand has been described as shocking and flabbergasting.
Thousands of female crabs were washed up close to the Maharees, which has the largest spider crab population in Ireland.
Dr Kevin Flannery of Dingle Oceanworld says the only silver lining is that the crabs, had just released their eggs before they were pushed up on the shoreline.
