The Irish Farmers’ Association and the Road Safety Authority have issued a safety appeal as silage cutting season gets underway in Kerry.
They are appealing to drivers of farming machinery and other road users to share the road safely.
As travel restrictions ease, traffic volumes are increasing and roads are getting busier while there are also more people walking, cycling and riding horses on public roads.
Both organisations want farming contractors and other drivers to remember this and to always be on the lookout for such vulnerable road users.
IFA President Tim Cullinan said it is a busy time on farms and he appealed for motorists to on the lookout for farm machinery on roads, he also urged those driving farm machinery to reduce their speed and not get distracted.
