Ryanair will operate a twice-daily service between Kerry and Dublin from September 1st. This follows on from the collapse of the PSO route last month.
Ryanair announced the route will be served by one of its Boeing 737 aircraft and will start on Wednesday, July 28th, with one flight. This will rise to a double daily service, morning and evening, from September 1st, which will deliver over 5,000 seats per week.
Meanwhile, a Kerry TD is calling for the PSO option for the Farranfore-Dublin route to remain on the table. Sinn Féin TD Pa Daly says that if the route is not commercially viable for Ryanair, then they must have the benefit of the PSO available to them in the future.
He says this might be required if the airline needs it to continue the route. Deputy Daly adds that while he welcomed the news that a carrier had been found, he was concerned at the mixed messages in recent days by those involved in securing the route.
