A route for a bypass of Abbeyfeale is being examined as part of a major road development.
The N21 Limerick Tralee Road has formed part of calls in the past for improved access to County Kerry.
Limerick City and County Council has been given the go ahead by Transport Infrastructure Ireland to proceed with this scheme, the initial phase of which involves identifying a preferred route for a bypass of Abbeyfeale
A broad area is being looked at, part of which takes in land in Kerry, so the council in Limerick sought permission from Kerry County Council to undertake any necessary works; Kerry councillors gave it the go ahead at their monthly meeting.
