At least one person has been taken to University Hospital Kerry following a crash at the level crossing between Farranfore and Firies.
It's understood the injuries are not life threatening.
The road between Farranfore and Firies is closed as a result of the crash.
Gardai and the emergency services are at the scene and diversions are in place.
Motorists are asked to avoid the area and delays on train routes are expected as a result.
According to Irish Rail, bus connections are in place between Killarney and Tralee until further notice due to the crash at Dromore level crossing.
Irish Rail's Twitter account says emergency services are on site.
