Revised plans for a car park in Waterville are to go out on public consultation later this year.
There were objections from some locals to previous plans, which incorporated part of a sea-facing green area.
The local authority says it's now reached agreement to acquire additional lands to extend the car park.
The proposal forms part of a Town and Village Renewal Project at the promenade, that also includes a Dark Sky Reserve Solar Walk.
The project has received grant assistance of €200,000 from the Department of Rural Development, and it's proposed to start the Part 8 planning process by the end of September.
The details were revealed following a question from Independent Cllr Johnny Healy-Rae.
