Restricted access at Bantry General Hospital will put additional pressure on University Hospital Kerry and Cork University Hospital.
That’s according to Independent TD for Cork South-West Michael Collins.
Bantry General Hospital’s (BGH) acute services unit is being restricted until at least September.
Deputy Collins says there’s a lack of consultants there due to retirements and illness, with just one consultant left to deal with the large workload.
Bantry General is run by the South/South West Hospital Group, which says the public needs to consider other care options in the interim.
